Why is Christmas such a burden in this country and never celebrated the way intended?

Well a lot of times they say happy holidays because they mean to include christmas and the new year and whatever else you celebrate. And just because people like buying and getting gifts and what not doesn't mean they don't know the meaning of the holiday.
