Does anyone have an explination for this?

i am wondering if atmospheric pressure may have caused this. i was sitting at home watching TV last night , and we had been using these gles for over an hour, when the one i was holding exploded, the bottom of it literally exploded...all over me. then about half an hour later, the other gl, which was them empty and sitting on the coffee table did the same thing, both broke from the bottom.
