Southern food restaurants in Atlanta?

I'm heading to ATL in a few weeks for the weekend and need some good restaurant recommendations. I am craving some good ol' southern food (particularly shrimp and grits). I am staying at a hotel near downtown, but I do have a car. I would like to stay away from very expensive restaurants, but will pay if it's worth it. Any recommendations?
