Is there a logical basis, to the public's fear of racism, as a result of this election?

What gets me is when (for instance) Micheal Steele was running for Governor of M. The media didn't rally behind him, Black people didn't run out to vote for him, It wasn't considered racist not to vote for him. All because he was a black REPUBLICAN. Such a double standard, it pis** me off!!!!(McCain knows what suffering and humility is)
