Boyfriend told me to stop biting his neck?

My new bf and I were at a concert recently, for most of which he was standing behind me, holding me, running his hands over my body and randomly kissing my head and neck. We had a few drinks and were quite cuddly the whole time (while sober, we usually keep the PDA to a minimum). At one point we were standing facing each other (with our arms around each other), I playfully/gently bit his neck and he said "you gotta stop doing that..." Do you think he wanted me to stop because it was turning him on? Or why do you think he would say that?
