So the Koran is not to be taken literally?

I earlier asked the question of whether the Koran was to be taken literally regarding the setting of the sun into a "muddy pond" was to be taken literally. Most of the replies (from Muslims) said this was NOT to be taken literally? That, in fact, the sun does not "sink into a 'slimy spring". So Mohammed was wrong about this--right?
