How do they come up with all the ingredient names in cereal?

I mean have you ever read the ingredients on the box. All it is suppose to be is wheat and sugar. What the hell is tripotium phosphate or mixed tocopherols.And thats just a few on a box of cheerios. And I thought I was buying good stuff for my kids.
